S. John, Chair
Members: Sarah John (Chair),
Lisa Spagnolo, Elaine Franco, Kathy Lin, Karleen Darr (ex-officio)
Daryl Morrison and Susan
Llano offered invaluable advice to the incoming committee chair.
The committee first met on
Feb. 15th, 2005 to review the bylaws and discuss possible candidates
for appointment/election.
The committee met again on
March 18th to prepare a slate. The committee was very successful in
finding people willing to run for office or volunteer for appointments. The
committee chair kept a list of people interested in the open positions.
The committee chair announced
the call for nominations at the LAUC-D General Membership meeting on March 30th.
Prior to the General meeting, the chair emailed an announcement to the LAUC-D
list with an attached form indicating which positions needed filling.
After the nomination deadline
passed on April 15th, the committee met to prepare an official
ballot. Later in May, the chair received the Statewide election ballots and
candidate statements. The committee met on May 11th to assemble
ballots.
Ballots were distributed on
May 18th, the deadline was the Election Day, held June 8th.
S. John and K. Darr met on June 9th to count ballots. There was a
tie for the position of Nominations and Elections Committee chair. After
consulting with the Executive Board, there was a runoff election. The results
of the election were announced through the LAUC-D email list, along with a
notification and instructions for the runoff election. The results of the
election were sent to the Statewide Secretary with a notification of the
special runoff election.
The runoff election ballots
were distributed on June 13th with a deadline of June 22nd.
The ballots were counted by the chair on June 23rd, and the tie was
resolved. The results were announced to the membership and the Statewide
Secretary.
